Why this topic?
“What are best practices in hiring an LAc into my program?” is a common question I receive at the Hospital Handbook Project. And it is no small thing.
As a program or clinic in a healthcare system, you want to hire and credential your employees to
maximize reimbursement and coding (and metrics) capture potential, and
set up an environment for the retention of your new hires.
And in my experience, I (Megan) see systems and programs make mistakes in this first step process that prevent them from attaining these two primary goals.
In this session, we will present the basics of how to hire & credential an LAc, so your healthcare system/program is primed to
maximize reimbursement/coding/metrics capture potential and
retain LAc professionals in your program and system

Review creation or revision of the electronic “provider code” in your system to capture the relevant sets of metrics

How do you support the potential of your LAc clinicians, working to the “top of their scope/practice” ability?
What is current information on recruiting and retaining LAc talent in your system?

Megan Kingsley Gale, Director, The Hospital Handbook Project for Acupuncturists and Their Hospital Sponsors
Paul Magee, outpatient acupuncture lead and manager, Allina Health System, Minnesota. Allina Health has had LAcs in its system since 2003. Their LAcs work in a variety of service lines and in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
