Documentation & Peer Record Review: QA Processes (why & how)

HHP Community Standard Presentation and Discussion

Documentation & Peer Record Review—QA processes

why & how

Description

HHP community standard presentation and discussion, special session by request, “Documentation: Peer Record Review, QA process (why & how)”.

keywords and topics: HHP community standard and discussion, documentation, professional practice, peer record review, ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE), quality assurance processes, model of continuous improvement, high-reliability organizations (HRO), communication

The theme will be on the “whys” of documentation as related to quality assurance, which standards must apply, and how to triage which standards are options vs. best practice, etc.

The background for this presentation is in the following HHP resources, The New Hospital Employee and The Joint Commission and other Quality Assurance Standards. Both of these resources you have access to if you are subscribed to the membership site. If you are a hospital or healthcare system based LAc or program manager and would like to join the membership site, send a message via the HHP contact page with why you’d like to join, your workplace location, and the contact information of a peer or program manager who can vouch for you.

Peer record review is a professional practice standard for clinicians and is guided by The Joint Commission ongoing professional practice evaluation (OPPE) standards.

Format of the zoom session

  1. Beginning of session: I’ll present this topic, from my perspective and the related HHP community standards that have been proposed.

  2. Then, I’ll open it up for discussion on the topic. If your process varies significantly from what I present, please help the group understand why it is different so we can:

    • follow your/your program’s thought process (critical thinking & reasoning) for why & how you/your program did and how that variation is helpful to you or not.

    • If you have a peer record review standard that you’d like to share during the live session, please let me know ahead of time in the registration form.

  3. Post-session, I will post the pdf of my slides in the “peer record review standard” modules in the following two HHP resources mentioned above (“New Hospital Employee” and “TJC & other QA standards”), so the discussion can continue in the community asynchronously. And, then, if you want to share examples et al at a later time, you can still do so (in the online module asynchronous discussion thread).
